Amy's First Birthday

Okay, so I'm really behind on my blog posts. Amy is already 17months old and I still haven't posted the pictures from her birthday party. Have no fear folks, I just downloaded all of the pictures from my camera to my computer and I have a rainy three day weekend ahead of me, so what better to do than update the blog.

We had a small family celebration at the house as we did for Charles and Ryan. Amy had a great time. She did appear to be quite interested in several of her gifts even though she also liked the tissue paper and the balloons too!

Crawling to open her first present.

She loved the tissue paper!

I love how Caitlyn, Charles and Ryan all helped Amy with her gifts. They were just as excited and she was.

Caitlyn gave Amy a cute Mini Mouse hat. Adorable!
After all of the presents were opened, Amy went immediately to the balloons!

Grown-up Bedroom Makeover

We made a few changes to the girls' bedrooms at the beginning of Summer. It was time for Amy to move to a new "big girl" bed. We converted her crib into a toddler bed. She loves it and stays on every night. I don't know how but she does. She knows how to climb off the bed but she does not like to do it and would rather wait for you to come get her in the morning.

We got some new "used" furniture from someone in our neighborhood that was moving and part of that furniture included a new bedroom set for Caitlyn's bedroom. We got rid of the metalic loft and turned it into a classy but girly room! So Caitlyn's room now looks more grown-up too! She now has a black and white poster of the Eiffel Tower in her room too and her grandmother made a black curtain to cover up the storage area on her bookshelf as well a sewed a decorative bolster pillow for her bed, so we've even made a few more improvements from when I took these pictures.

Bedroom Makeover

Okay so our bedroom furniture was falling appart (litterally) and we have painted every room in the house except the garage and our bedroom (and I guess the closets). Seth bought a Xoom and I figured it was definitely time to invest in some decent furniture for our bedroom. Rooms to Go was having a huge sale and we took advantage of it! And for a little under $500 I was able to pick out some new bedding, paint, and decorative accents (pictures, lamps, candles, vases etc.). Seth gave me complete authority on the bedding and decor. Wow! So I definitely had fun. Was an exhausting weekend though. Don't ever want to do a room makeover in one day by myself. Here are some pictures. I'm still trying to find something to add a little more color to the curtains, other than that, I'm pretty happy with everythihng. Maybe a new ceiling fan would be good. I took some pictures of the new look. It's missing the big screen TV. That arrived a few days later (was part of the package deal - well actually the new TV is in the game/computer room and our bedroom gets the old one that was in there because it was an LCD instead of LED and generated too much heat in the computer room. Shouldn't be an issue in the bedroom).
I absolutely love our new room. Now I need to figure out which room to tackle next, lol!
